Chronic Kidney Disease and Ecology

T.B. Bevzenko

Abstract

The review of literature presented the relationship between the development of chronic kidney disease with the ecological state of areas of residence of patients, the impact of xenobiotics (inorganic and organic chemicals, essential and toxic elements) on the character of renal structures (glomeruli, tubules, stroma) damage. Based on self-reported data, there were analyzed prevalence and incidence of chronic kidney disease in 33 urban and rural areas of the Donetsk region, the results are compared with the hygiene factors of the environment (nature of air, soil, drinking water and groundwater), a role in the degree of contamination with xenobiotics of different industries, agriculture, road and rail transportation; the dependence of statistical indicators on adverse environmental conditions in the regions had been confirmed.
